Skyz The Limit: My Top Five Tunes of The Week (May 19)

Fun That We Have-Julian Plenti
Comment: Interpol frontman’s solo-effort is reminiscent of vintage Placebo and the voice of late Ian Curtis (Joy Division). The track’s computerized Kraftwerk-esque drum loops underneath Plenti’s dark emotive vocal helps conjure up memories of the classic Manchester Dance scene of the 80s & 90s. Grade: B+

Lee Majors Come Again-Beastie Boys

Comment: The B-Boys unveil a brand new creative wrinkle to their alternative rap arsenal-buzz saw guitar strings with techno drum n’ bass samples. They sprinkle a hint of new wave punk that will have you head bobbing and clamoring for the release of their next LP. Grade: A-

Crazy Tonight (The Dirty South Remix)-U2
Comment: This electro-trance infused dance remix should be a mega-hit at clubs everywhere. Dirty South splatters a thumping baseline over mind-numbing synthesizers that will have your adrenaline rushing for hours. Grade: A

Old Time’s Sake-Eminem (Feat. Dr. Dre)

Comment: Arguably one of Eminem’s best singles to-date. Eminem’s duet with Dr. Dre is molded into perfection by featuring a groovy hip-drum loop with retro-style keyboard synths. A potential summertime classic rap anthem in-the-making! Grade: A+

Sacred Trixter-Sonic Youth
Comment: Sonic Youth releases another novel, guitar-driven post-punk rock ballad that will have you recalling legendary Punk Rockers like the Sex Pistols, The Clash and even Jesus & Mary Chain. This is a propulsive head-banger that you will have on loop on your ipod.Grade: A-

Spotlight On: Crazy Tonight (Dirty South Remix)-U2
